Fund Services Now! – Special Needs Waiting List Video Campaign

A picture is worth a thousands words – and many pictures are worth millions of dollars in funding to end the waiting list for children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Are you the parent, guardian, friend, loved one, caregiver, service provider of a person with a developmental or intellectual disability such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and others? Are you a self-advocate (a consumer) who has been waiting for community-based services? Are you a military family who keeps ending up at the bottom of waiting lists because you have to move? Are you a citizen who is outraged that affected people in your community are not getting the services they need to support their activities of daily living?

If you said yes, then the National Organization to End the Waiting Lists (NOEWAIT) wants your photo!

NOEWAIT is creating powerful videos and accompanying posters and other materials to promote our mission to end waiting lists and create portability of services across the United States for people with developmental disabilities. Videos created from this campaign will be posted on YouTube and distributed through Facebook, Twitter, websites and email to educate the public, Congress and state legislators about the Medicaid Home and Community Based services waiting list crisis. Videos and posters will also be used at conferences and other meetings. NOEWAIT will select compelling pictures, which represent the depth of the waiting list problem.

We need your compelling digital pictures to tell your story.

We have made it as easy as possible for you. All you need to do is take a photo of yourself and/or your affected love one, holding a sign we created for you, with your digital camera and upload it to this special site, donated by the XXYY Project for our use:

All of the instructions for the campaign are located on the above site. Please follow the instructions so that your contribution will match the message of our campaign.

Hurry! The deadline for submission for possible inclusion in the campaign is May 7, 2010.

Once the videos are complete, we will post them on our blog, website and if you are on our e-mail list, you will receive a notice that they are done. Then, you can help distribute the message!
