Our Hope for Colorado - End Waiting Lists for DD Services

Colorado, like many states throughout the country, maintains a waiting list of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in need of services. The recent budget crisis has caused Colorado to freeze the opening of any new "slots" to provide services for these individuals. By not making resources available, the state is leaving families without help to access the community, obtain employment skills, receive in-home services or receive the kind of 24 hour care they need. People are waiting for decades for these services.

The National Organization to End the Waiting List's hope for Colorado for Our Hope for Colorado Day is for citizens to understand how devastating it is for families who need services to be shut out. We hope Colorado will begin a new effort to provide services to all people on the waiting lists.

Disabilities Don't Wait Video Released

The National Organization to End the Waiting Lists (NOEWAIT) announces the release of our video, "Disabilities Don't Wait." We encourage everyone to join us in the mass distribution of the video through Facebook, blogs, Twitter, websites, e-mail and any other social media.

The video calls for all Americans to call Congress to ask why people are waiting for urgently needed services, and why people with disabilities are unable to relocate from one state to another. Ask Congress to create a national solution to what has been only a state-by-state issue.
